Our Yogi Ambassadors
When it came time to refresh our flyers, the graphic designer suggested we try creating a flyer from the point of view of the student. This got me thinking, I wanted to use "real" people, and immediately these four beautiful yogis & yoginis sprang to mind as students who have been with us for a long time and have an established practice, who have had a real life journey with yoga, and whom we have been lucky to get to know and share some of that journey. I felt very privileged that they said "yes" to my request to represent the centre, and the rest of our wonderful students and their journeys.

How you came to yoga:
I felt something was missing inside and went to my first class while living in Byron Bay. Something just fell into place and I absolutely fell in love with this beautiful practice.
What yoga has done for you/what you love about it:
Yoga has brought me to more clarity, connection, to become more gentle, it has healed old wounds, allowed me to let go more often, to accept my imperfections, provided strength and fitness. Undoubtedly yoga has lead me to realise more about my purpose in life.

How you came to yoga:
Yoga was recommended to me by my doctor as a great way to keep my bones healthy and strong. I thought I would try it for a short time, but ten years later I'm still regularly attending classes with the same caring teachers.

I feel I am now enjoying a level of fitness I never believed was possible for someone my age.
Joe
Name: Joe Mezanasana
Age: 48 years young
Occupation: Residential Care Officer
How you came to yoga:
A guy I was living with (Tim) said he was going to Yoga, so I thought I'd check it out.
What yoga has done for you/what you love about it:
Yoga has given me, and continues to give me an awareness of myself in the world, it has opened my heart and expanded my mind, and has taught me to enjoy the simple things. What I love most about it is when I get on my mat I become totally immersed in the moment and everything else seems to melt away (90% of the time), it's still quite a phenonema for me really, I also love how every practice is totally different and how it produces different results and different energy levels after each practice, amazing but true!
John

Name: John Davidson
Age: I forgot (62)
Occupation: I forgot (flaneur)
How you came to yoga:
I came to Yoga by accident at Camp Eden 12 years ago. It seemed to fit and thus to the Goldy Yoga Centre I wandered.
What yoga has done for you/what you love about it:
I was a High School Teacher and at that time after 30 years in the job, it was challenging to say the least. The yoga mat became my refuge. Under Suzanne's and Cameron's guidance in particular my mind quietened and I survived. Today in retirement it is the peg upon which I hang my day. I am now in a place I would never have dreamt possible without Yoga.
