Deepening the practice of Yoga

1. Develop a solid regular committed yoga practice 5-6 days per week and learn to perfect the asanas. Work with a minimum of twelve different teachers from different lineages and attend regular workshops for a while. Gain reasonable competency of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series, then Secondary series, then Third series, then Forth series, etc. Study courses in first-aid, reiki healing, philosophy of yoga, anatomy and physiology.

2. Apply the yamas (moral codes) in daily life 

a. non-violence
b. Truth
c. non-stealing
d. sexual restraint
e. non-coveting

Apply the niyamas (self-purification & study) in daily life

a. purity
b. contentment
c. burning effort for divinity
d. study of the Self
e. devotion to God

3. Increase awareness of the breath and begin a life-long study of pranayama.

4. Increase awareness of the outward distractions of the senses and draw the senses inwards more and more. (pratyahara)

5. Begin to practice meditation everyday. Starting for fifteen minutes per day and working up to at least two hours per day. Attend one ten-day Vipassana Meditation Course per year. Then some Satipatana courses, then some special ten-day courses, then some twenty-day courses, then some thirty-day courses, then some forty-five day courses, then some sixty- day courses, then eventually go into silent retreat for three years.

6. Adjust and teach thousands of students under senior teacher supervision. Increase awareness of yoga therapy using the specific application of yoga poses to cure disease and injury states, such as headaches, fatigue, knee and back problems. Learn how to structure and teach pre-natal & menstruation practices.

7. Study the universal laws as they apply to body, mind and spirit, and embrace the scope of the yogic scriptures (ancient and new) that are available.

8. (or) Detach and develop dispassion for everything that is impermanent, increase awareness every moment and realise there is nothing to practice and that meditation is the realisation of the perfection of every moment and the acknowledgement of the intelligent stillness and Divine silence in consciousness itself.  Realise the Emptiness of all things. Realise your freedom from desire, craving, attachment, anger & fear.
