The Meaning of the GCYC Logo

The Yoga Centre logo came to Suzanne about 6 years ago in a meditation, after spending a lot of time working on the values of the yoga centre. The circle (head) represents the cyclic nature of existence, zero or in sanskrit sunya, the starting point or void – completely empty, yet ripe with infinite potential. The heart (body), reflects the love and joy of being in the empty/void state as well as the compassion for self and others. The infinity symbol (legs) represents the infinite nature of pure consciousness that underlies our existence. The total effect is a yogi in meditation accessing that consciousness and the peace that comes with it. With our name underneath, the outline of the whole logo is a triangle, which not only brings in all the concepts relating to the number 3 such as ‘body, mind and spirit’, but the 3 gunas, the 3 doshas, the 3 main deities and so on. It’s also one of the most stable structures, a symbolic mountain, a stable foundation, with a peak reaching up to the heights and mirroring the teachings of the lotus flower, moving from the earth to the highest realms of consciousness. These are just some of the layers of meanings our logo has for us, but everyone seems to relate to it in a different way. Some feel peace, some clarity, some unconditional love. What does it mean to you? Email the centre, or drop in a note. gcyc logo
