SUBWAY BHAKTIS CHANT NIGHT JUNE 27TH
I am very excited to announce a fantastic concert at the yoga centre this month. Last year when I went on my road trip/sabbatical there was one cd that rarely left my CD player as I drove, “Subway Bhaktis”. I think I loved it so much because it was chant and so kept my consciousness clear and my energy high, but it was also GREAT music. Unlike other CD’s, I could play it over and over without getting sick of it; each song with a unique and different flavour. It's taken me a year, but I’ve finally managed to get singers Nyck Jeanes and Rachel Zinman of Subway Bhaktis to come and sing here at the centre June 27. The night promises chai, cake and great company too. Put it in your diary!! Entry by donation. Doors open 6:30pm for 7pm start. more info
GOLD COAST YOGA CENTRE @ GREEN DAY OUT!
Thanks to everyone for coming along to the recent Green Day Out (World Environment Day) event we exhibited at. We had a fantastic day and were lucky enough o have a spot by the river which provided a great hub for our yogis and friends to hang out in the sun – we had quite a gang at one point! Thanks for showing your support and we sincerely thank our newcomers who were gracious enough to take time to fill out a survey so we can continue to provide a positive yoga experience to you all. The winner of the prize draw was Gayle McKew who won a beginners pass! Congratulations Gayle! Regular students will also have a chance to win a 10 pass in exchange for taking the time to fill out a current student survey to help us improve the centre and continue to provide you with a great yoga experience. The survey will be coming to your email inbox, or being handed out in class in the coming week or so, so please keep your eyes and ears peeled!

5 MINS WITH…HELEN
Q. What first brought you to yoga?
Working as a chef and massage therapist, I had a lot of pain in my body, and yoga really helped.
Q. What do you love about yoga?
I love the way it helps me to become more present in my life.
Q. What do you love about teaching kids?
I love teaching kids because they are so enthusiastic, very funny and they continually surprise me with their insights and knowledge of life.
Q. What value do you think yoga has to offer kids?
It really helps them to become calmer, and clearer and more present, therefore they have a deeper understanding of themselves.
Q. What else is important in your life?
Being a mum, my relationship with my friends and family. It is important to keep working on my relationship with myself because it affects my relationship with other people, and it's the relationship with others that keeps my world in harmony.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
This month's quote was inspired by the video I watched on www.TED.com about Ray Anderson. At his carpet company, Ray Anderson has increased sales and doubled profits by designing for sustainability. In his beautiful speech, Anderson talks about living in harmony with nature, about more happiness with less stuff, and ends with a poem written by a company employee inspired by Anderson’s vision. Outlined below for your pleasure!
Tomorrow’s Child
Without a name; an unseen face and knowing not your time nor place Tomorrow’s Child, though yet unborn, I met you first last Tuesday morn.
A wise friend introduced us two, and through his sobering point of view I saw a day that you would see; a day for you, but not for me
Knowing you has changed my thinking, for I never had an inkling That perhaps the things I do might someday, somehow, threaten you
Tomorrow’s Child, my daughter-son I’m afraid I've just begun To think of you and of your good, Though always having known I should.
Begin I will to weigh the cost of what I squander; what is lost If ever I forget that you will someday come to live here too.
