Levels
We offer a variety of classes, over several levels, from beginners to advanced, to suit many individual needs.
Beginners Classes (1 hr)
For those with little or no experience of yoga; or with an injury or condition that requires an easy pace and support. Gentle and informative. Minimum 6 classes recommended, or feel welcome to stay at this level for as long as you like.
Level 1 (1.5 hrs)
For those with a little yoga behind them who wish to progress at their own pace. Modifications given in class to accomodate differing needs. Well rounded practice with no inversions or full back-bends.
General (1.5 hrs)
A Level 1 class with some options included for the more advanced students to practice.
Ashtanga Led Ashtanga Yoga First series guided class - a dynamic and challenging sequence of postures linked with the breath.
The first Friday 10.30am class of each month is Led Second Series which is more advanced sequence than the regular led class. For students with at least one year experience of Ashtanga or equivalent level of practice. Speak to one of our teachers if you are interested in attending.
Self-practice (Mysore) - (3 hours)
A 3 hour class for students to practice at their own pace with the support and assistance of a teacher. Practice period can be as long or as short as needed within that 3 hour period and can start at any time, we simply ask that everybody is finished by 10am. Although it is traditionally the Ashtanga sequences practiced in this way, you are welcome to come in and practice a modified practice or a restorative practice if that is best for you. Not suitable for Beginners. If you have any further questions then please ask any of the teachers.
Inversions
A one hour class with a brief warm up before a practice exploring inverted postures such as handstand, headstand, shoulderstand and variations. Not suitable for Beginners or women on their moon cycle or anyone with neck injuries. We can accomodate some modifications. If a lady on her cycle would like to practice in the space that is fine, but she will be doing her own seperate practice.
Meditation Class (1.5 hrs)
Taking Yoga to a deeper level expanding consciousness & deepening tranquillity. Usually broken into two sessions, you can leave after the first session.
Meditation is essential for all people to realise peacefulness and serenity, rather than the turbulence of emotional cycles, addictive behaviour and non-virtuous actions. Beginners Welcome.
Yoga and Surf
We have teamed up with professional Surf Coach Darren Barker to provide early morning Yoga followed by a Surf lesson and a gourmet breakfast. Students will be picked up here at the yoga centre at 5.30am and taken to a Tweed Coast beach. Cost is $60 for 1 session or $220 for four. Bookings are necessary.
Darren is an ASI accredited Surf Coach, has been surfing for over 27 years and is an experienced, elite-advanced surfer. He is also a qualified chef specialising in fine dining, who has worked with world class chefs including Neil White – voted hot new chef of the year in London. Contact us to book in!!
Private Sessions
Private sessions are designed for specific injury and disease states. All inner/jury and dis/ease states can be transcended if you have the commitment.
Individual sessions are also utilized by anyone who wishes more individual progression and adjustment within their practice. Times and practices are tailored to suit your needs. Pregnancy workouts available.
Guest Workshops
Guest workshops each year are provided to inspire and deepen your understanding on a regular basis. Guest teachers are usually senior teachers who have inspired us in some way, so we invite them to the centre to share their teaching with our students. We also invite teachers who have a specialty that we may not offer, and we invite them for their wisdom in these areas. These are wonderful events that offer insight and depth, and we usually have a picnic or afternoon tea, so they also provide a great chance to get to know your yoga community.
In house Workshops
We also offer a number of in-house workshops, taught by one of our teachers. These workshops usually focus on an aspect of practice we do not have the time to explore in class and include technique, pranayama & philosophy. They are a valuable adjunct to practice and deepening your experience of yoga.
