The 5 Elements & Their Interaction by kam

The body & other objects are made of the five elements. The four elements (earth, water, air & fire) need to be balanced to create harmony in the body. The fifth element (space) is the unchanging screen onto which all things appear. The elemental balance is altered by the quality of what actions we perform, the emotions we feel & the thoughts we think. The circle in the centre shows which yoga poses relate to which elements. By this we can increase or decrease the influence of each element thereby restoring harmony. We can see that in language we have many sayings that relate to the polar extremes in elemental balance. The words outside the circles relate to the area of life that the element influences. (This is a rough guide only, some ‘space-fluff’ that came into my head in meditation.)
